We now offer live waxworms, natural
food product that is a special treat birds love. Our
preservative-free
and
additive-free live waxworms will
help keep your birds healthy as well. Great care has been
taken in raising these waxworms to ensure an excellent, high
quality nutritional and dietetic food source for your birds.
Waxworms are the larval stage of the Greater Wax Moth (Galleria
mellonella). Waxworms are large, soft and easily digested
by wild birds.
High levels of protein, fat, and moisture make our live waxworms an
excellent, juicy food for many birds, including all members of the
thrush family as well as dunnocks and blackcaps. These juicy
morsels will prove very popular. live waxworms are also
enjoyed by bluebirds as well as cardinals, orioles, robins,
thrushes, waxwings, blue jays, tanagers, titmice, warblers,
kinglets, and many other insect-eating birds as well.
Birds will eat these juicy morsels so quickly that you may want
to mix them in with your dry seed mix or with fruit. Learn
how to attract more songbirds to your feeders using live
waxworms and watch
insect-eating birds become more frequent visitors to your
feeders each year! Try a live and
dried roasted waxworm combination
to bring your cost down and train your wild birds to look for
the dried waxworms as well as the live ones!
Live waxworms can be offered from just about any bird feeder.
Most birds will eat waxworms right from a dish on the ground.
Live waxworms will keep for several weeks with proper storage
and instructions are included with every order. Live
waxworms also work well with tray feeders, platform bird
feeders, and even our
Supper Dome Feeder!
Waxworms are a popular food choice of bluebirds and our live waxworms are an all-natural,
high protein, high energy waxworm product that your bluebirds
will love. Also, our live waxworms are excellent for a variety of reptiles
/ herps,
including sugar gliders, and they are an excellent fish bait!
Here's a Hot Tip from your friends at Nature's Wild Bird
Food!!
Are
you frustrated with not being able to get your supplies of live
mealworms? Add a dash of cold press extra virgin olive oil
to dried mealworms for re-hydration and they look "life like!"
Also, the cold press olive oil is tasteless, has lots of
anti-oxidants, plus amino acids, and never goes rancid.
But more important, cold press extra virgin olive oil is
expelled (unlike Canola oil) from the host organism. NOTE:
Please allow time for the birds to adjust - it might take a day
or two.
